(sorry, always wanted to use the bouncy thingy). You know you can always sell me some of the tester pullets this summer for my egg laying pen. The folks are sucking me dry at work for eatin' eggs. I sell 15 dozen a week and still have a 2 week wait. I have about a dozen hens that are coming to the end of their useful term for production. I don't think I'll ever be able to fire up the incubator... they have no idea the work you put into breeding these great birds just for their scrambled eggs and toast.

We should have plenty of laying hens this spring....you should see the brooders now. I had to clear half of the storage shed to set up a brooder on the floor for some older birds. We need a nice outdoor and heated brooder room. The next farm will be set up better.

My older blrw are getting pretty cramped in the basement brooder. I think its time to get them out to the coop but im still scared its too cold for them! Its still hitting below freezing in NH. I cannot wait for spring!!!!

If they are fully feathered, you'd be surprised what they can take already! Especially in an area that is draft-free with plenty to eat.

We have some that are fully feathered out in the corner of the shed with a 100 watt bulb and it has been down to 8*....they seem fine and not too cold. I got my electric bill today and it was $379

we are all taking cold showers the rest of the month.

Maybe its time to think about getting them out there..lol The basement stays around 50 degrees thou, you dont think it would be to much? The coop is in a barn stall thats completly inclosed in.

Here is our barn, it needs some repairs hopefully that will get done this summer
