I did not say they were starting to lay I said they were singing.I know that they mature late But I do not wait tell the last minute to take care of my livestock.If something needs to be done get out and do it Katy if you go back and read my post you will see I said I thought they would be laying befor the cockrel was matured enough to be fertal.

I guess I thought you thought they were close to laying since you were trimming their fluff.....I don't do that unless I'm getting eggs that aren't fertile. I never have trimmed the fluff on my BLRWs and have always had good fertility on them.

I posted this somewhere on BYC before..but....... here is a rack of BLR Wyandotte eggs ready to go into the incubator. The 3 white eggs in the middle are the large stor bought eggs. We have really increased egg size the past few years.

When you guys are trimming the extra fluff - are you using scissors or clippers?

Got game Mine are not the best broodys out there But other people say there strain make exelent broodys mine might be better this year,one can amways hope.

I have 4 BLRW Bantam pullets whose mama was VERY VERY broody. They are actually all the sport or splash of the blue laced red bantams. I really need a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Bantam cockerel to put with the splash pullets, but I am also wantin to use them as broodies. I am lookin for a cockerel of the bantam persuasion...

I am new to the wyandottes...have some nice blrw's from sterling center farms..sue oslo. I am looking for sq slw's....is there a reputable breeder in NYS? The reason for specifying NY is I would like to either purchase a trio or chicks. But I am definitely willing to purchase hatching eggs from elsewhere. I would appreciate your help.

Had an occurrence yesterday. As most of you know we raise many varieties of LF and Bantam Wyandottes. We had one incubator full of fertile Bantams eggs of SP, Dun, Barred etc....over a 150 eggs. Had a power spike and knocked the temperature to 120!!! Those eggs were all fertile and in the last 10 days before hatchings..........LOST them all. It seems at times that I am destined to not raise Bantam Wyandottes with the luck I keep having. FRUSTRATING.
