Echo. Mine have never been real good moms. But I put direct lights on the last 2 that went broody and they were laying again in a couple days.

I've had 2 different strains of partridge wyandotte bantams. Not as good as cochins but definetly good. The roosters are where I see the largest difference. Nothing comes close to a cochin rooster for helping to raise chicks.

there are several places,as the others mentioned, foleys, but also Paul's poultry (jesse paul) also a member here.
I have always picked out birds I liked the looks of and bought there. reason being, do you really plan to show the birds? even if you don't, you are the one that has to look at them every day. if you don't like the looks of YOUR birds, then you won't enjoy owning them as much and isn't that just one of the reasons we pick the breeds and colors that we keep? if you just want them for eggs, there are many pretty birds out there.

I recommend the Turbos (Foleys). I'm fortunate enough to be driving distance from them. They've been wonderful to a newbie like me. Jerry and Rebecca kindly mentored me on what to look for in a great wyandotte. They want to everyone to love these beautiful birds.

Jesse Paul will sell you birds with single combs which is a show fault. He admits it on his website, also. I ordered 50 black wyandotte chicks from JP this spring but he was having fertility issues and issued a refund to me.
