The Wyandotte Thread

Ok guys, my camera sucks but I did my best. I am wanting to know the quality of this roo. Can anyone help?? My goal here is to sell off my poor quality chickens and breed sq for the 4-h kids, and my own of course.
I did not think he was good quality however, I know there are different colors patterns available in the Blue laced, just wanted to be sure. He is last years hatch, I got him from a local.

wrong date on camera
Thanks in advance )

That's the best you're going to get from him. I don't know if this makes any difference in what you want to get for your kids to show, but the BLR coloring isn't a recognized color with the APA. You can show them, but in a sanctioned show (which a lot of 4-H shows aren't) there isn't anyway they can win top prize.

On page 2 of this thread I've got one of my roos pictured. He's a better example of what you want to aim for.

Katy your birds are beautiful! I was comparing some of the roo photos on this page to him so I already knw for the most part he did not have good coloring. I really like the BLR and think I will order some eggs and hatch out better quality chicks.

Thanks so much for the info

I'm new to Wyandottes and fell in love, are there any less expensive birds with nice type other than hatchery stock? I don't want to spend $200 and find out I don't like Wyandottes after all. I really want BLR and Blue birds... I've checked out Paul's Poultry and Blue Poultry, any advice?
Thanks,
