The Wyandotte Thread

figured I would drop by and post a picture of Juliet- not sure what to call her color except beautiful. she is from a blue laced over white. she has pale blue lacing on the breast and lacing that is like a mauve color over the back and yes, leaky red. she's so much prettier in person, the pictures just can't capture her beautiful coloring.

Here is my SLW. She is from a breeder. Can anyone comment on her quality? She is my first of this breed although I do have a golden too. Ok maybe I'll post both!

I see nobody said anything back yet about your birds. I am a complete newbie with the Wyandottes. This is what I will say, the SLW has more breed charactor, especially in the face/head. Her lacing looks fair, of course there is always room for improvement. She seems to be lacking the imaginary circle body shape, They are supposed to be appear higher, then they are long. Her back is a little long, but it could be the way she she is standing or her tail set. As for the golden laced, I have never seen one in person. She seems to have the same body issues. Did the breeder get there stock from a hatchery? or maybe they have some hatchery blood in them?

I am not a chicken snob, they are beautiful no matter what anyone says about them. I just don't think they would do well at a show. So it all depends what you want to use them for.

Just got my order from welp/privet in this morning everyone looks reasonably healthy. They all are eating and drinking. Hopefully I can post some pics this afternoon.

I bought blue LF wyandottes from Privett last year. I had to sell all of them. The type wasn't bad however they all still had grey combs at point of lay. That alone culls them from my breeders. They did have nice teepee shaped tails. Something I've never seen from hatchery stock. The Lexington, KY area now has blue wyandottes giving lavender orps a run for their money.
I just finished being NPIP certified so now I can ship chicks!
