The Wyandotte Thread

Is there a place where you can see a picture of what a "top show" Wynadotte looks like? I have a rooster that I think is just beautiful, but I've never shown. He's still very young, only 5 months, but he's really coming in to his own and comes from good stock. Thanks!
I would start by going here: http://www.wyandottebreedersofamerica.net/ A few good pics on the home page. If you click on the "wyandotte standard" there is a written description of what they should look like along with pics of correct combs, etc. For more pics I would recommend going to Foley's Waterfowl website...he has some of the best silver laced and blue laced red around.

This is a SLW from Foley's Breeding stock.

Thanks.... but I had nothing to do with making him... I just bought him this pretty

I love looking at the pictures people have posted of their birds. So, I thought I would finally post some of my own. Mine aren't nearly as attractive as the various laced birds. Some of the combinations of colors are truly breathtaking. These are two birds from our flock. This is our first time having chickens, and we are having a blast with these two :).

She is a little bit younger in this picture.

Can I get some feedback? I bought two SLW pullets in July and at the time, they were the same size as the barred rock pullets I purchased.. But now they are way behind in growth. Is that normal? Both are very small. They look weeks younger than they are.

Could I actually have bantams instead of standard?

They carry both sizes, but they assured me that mine were standard.

Thanks :)

Wyandottes are a very slow growing breed so it is normal for them to be smaller than other breeds even if they are the same age. It takes about 14-18 months for them to fully mature.
