The Wyandotte Thread

They look standard sized to me! especially if the barred rock and the wyandottes are the same age. If they were bantam they would be much smaller in my opinion.

I guess I'm just not used to such slow growers. They are heavier than they look. The Red Sex Links have outgrown them, and they are 2 weeks younger (the RSLs are younger).

There you go! She hasn't started laying yet and please ignore my Plymouth Rock and Frizzle. They love people. Well, more specifically, dried mealworms.

Thought I'd repost this since I don't think anyone saw it.

I actually bought her at a show, and they told me she was a hen. I take her to another one and they tell me she's a very young pullet. My other pullet (Cochin) who's 8 months is bigger then her. So I'm guessing somewhere around 5 months, but I have no clue. She got a bath last night because I'm taking her to the show today.

She looks really young to me. Definitely not considered a hen by any means :p Beautiful though! I'm a sucker for partridge!

I love looking at the pictures people have posted of their birds. So, I thought I would finally post some of my own. Mine aren't nearly as attractive as the various laced birds. Some of the combinations of colors are truly breathtaking. These are two birds from our flock. This is our first time having chickens, and we are having a blast with these two :).

Columbian Wyandotte rooster "Auggie:"

Our Columbian Wyandotte hen Irma Jeane:

She is a little bit younger in this picture.

Oh that Irma,, you should rename her Snow White!

I have total Columbian Wyandotte envy there! I hope my two turn out half as nice as yours!

Thank you :) I bought her because I loved her coloring.
Partridge is by far my favourite (unless you count jubilee - but I've only seen those in pictures) colour in any breed. I'd really like to get partridge rocks :drool

I've never actually seen it in Wyandottes before. It's not a common colour. White is the most common here. I find that kind of boring. I like patterns!
