Here is Mr. Cowboy. he isnt SQ or anything but i think he is so pretty and he really gives our farm the oldtime feeling when they are out free-ranging.

Means it could be possible for me to get some too

Well now I just have to build another coop lol

How does one import? I'm going to the UK later in the month and played with the idea of looking for Chocolate Wyandottes. Are there a tremendous amount of legal loops? Is it worth it?

US borders are still closed for import due to Avian Flu aren't they?

Sorry, I'm based north of Germany, and legislation here makes it possible (although with heaps of paperwork) to import from Germany....

Probably are still closed, I could ask at customs (I live on the canadian border) I'm going to be in England, Scotland and Wales at the end of April and was thinking hmmmm... chocolate wyandottes, but I digress, probably not this year and not a cost I could handle this early in my breeding program.

They are about 4 days old. It's just that one looks very different in pattern than the others, although enough to know what she is. And I didn't know about the brown. After reading more on opinions of hatchery breed chicks it seems I am in league with the devil's spawn ... but even so, I would hope that I have something close to the beauties that I have seen in posts.

4 days is too young to make a judgement on any chick no matter where it's from.

What age do wyandotte roosters generally start crowing? Is it earlier or later than other breeds? I read a chart that said roosters could crow real soft as early as three weeks old while others wait a year but the chart didn't say what breed. Is it different? Is a wyandoote crow softer, louder, deeper or otherwise different from another breed?

Well, I've only got one Wyandotte rooster, Walter. He is a bass/baritone, and didn't crow much until he got his own group of girls. He is very mellow and was content to let the little cochin boys be dominant, but is definitely the man chicken now!

You can if you learn to vent sex them, but it is very difficult and a novice is likely to have a difficult time ever getting it right. Other than that, it's culling at around 3-4 weeks when cockerels start showing signs of a larger and more pink combs.

I have looked on eBay from time to time, but certainly don't pay close attention. I have not tried Eggbid.

I'd like to know a bit more about the chicks/eggs that I'm buying than seeing an auction picture (that came from who knows where). To that end, if anyone here has experience with an eBay or Eggbid seller of large fowl Partridge Wyandottes, I'd love to hear about it.

Tim I may be able to help you out finding partridge wyandottes. I know a couple people in southern Wi. who may have them they do show around the midwest and Ohio but it may take a few phone calls. I really do think they show partridge in the standard . At least that is what I have been told. Mike

If it's not too much trouble, I'd appreciate it. I'm not really that knowledgeable and am not looking for championship stock, just looking for quality beyond what often comes from a big hatchery. My preference would be to get hatching eggs and incubate them myself rather than dealing with shipping chicks. But, I realize that beggars can't really be too picky about such things.

Tim
