I'd love to get waaaay better birds/eggs for showing but I bet that will cost a very pretty penny...

They do fine in 4-H BB took best in show at the county fair here. Pepper has a gold gene in her wings so she probably wouldn't do so good. Bubba was still a little young but got 3rd in cockrels.

i have a SLW rooster with a single comb( i know he isnt SQ and he dosnt need to be i have no intetion of showing any) what i wanted to know is the single comb a dominate trait( will it be passed on to all of his off spring or not) i wanted to breed him with my hens(they look good). i can really sell them hear, we do not have to many in my area and every time i see them at a sale they are gone in a heartbeat but if the comb will be passed on then he will have to go in the freezer so i can get another one. i also have gold laced and i love the wyandotte breed going to get some blue red laced after i sale or give away alot of EE's

thanks so that means i should be fine. a few that have the single comb would be fine i just did not want them all to and again thanks

kman They will all carry the single comb gene but depending on the hen may or may not be a single combed bird. It is suggested to keep the single comb gene alive in your birds as the rose comb can be associated with infertility.
