I have Columbian and yes there is a Columbian Wyandotte thread. You will have to look for it thru the thread pages.

When Colby got the rest of Jerry's adult blues and we got the peeps, he suggested getting quality white stock to breed back into the line-to improve type and leg color. All the off spring would then need bred back to the parent lines and those chicks would need examined to see if the were better-or if the needed another round of breeding with the whites.

You can do it with any color-just takes time to do.

See if there is an alternative reason explaining keeping them is easier

Thank you! These are two of the first chickens we purchased. (Thats not saying much as we got them last spring) I am pretty sure they are hatchery bred. We bought them from our local feed store and I was very pleasantly surprised at how they turned out. Neither one of them has any mossy, smutty feathering. (Of course I learned what that was after we purchased our chickens). I think we really lucked out. I need to ask the feed store where they get there chicks because all of them have been very close to their breeds SOP's. I have been very impressed with all of the birds we purchased from them last year. We have over the past year become more knowledgable and have been trying to find local breeders to purchase our birds from. We originally purchased many different breeds to figure out which ones we liked and didn't like. Wyandotte have definitely remained on of our favorites.

Today had an exciting start to it. I candled my first eggs. We had put our first set of 18 eggs in the incubator 2 weeks ago. They are various types as we had our BLR roo in with our BLR, GL, marans and RiR hens. We were taking this first run as an experience in incubation. We marked the eggs that we knew who they came from. Well of the 18 10 were not fertile but the BLR eggs all are!!! It was so neat.
So next Monday will be our first hatch day!!!!

Very exciting! We just had our first hatch last month. We couldn't take our eyes off of the incubator on hatch day. Good luck with yours! Lockdown goes by sooo slowly. Happy hatching!

I know I posted this pic a few days before, but I looked at this hen tonight and wondered if what she has is a bunny tail? I need to go take better pictures of the other hen and the cockerel, who is looking nicest confirmation wise. He's still young so I can't wait to see how he fills out.
