What kind of tail is this?

This tail appears to have none of the stiff or harder feathers forming the tent. I'm thinking it is the abrupt or incomplete tail.
I always thought of that shape of a tail as a clam, so it looks that way because it is lacking a hard feather and instead has a soft feather? Do you think this is more common with a narrow end than a wide ended bird?
 
I took some pictures of my cockerel tonight before his bath, however they didn't turn out very well. I'll try to take some more tomorrow.
