The Wyandotte Thread

The little cockerel has a beautiful green and purple sheen, almost like a barnevelder . Audrey, the little pullet almost looks like a dark GLW. No ordinary ' Audrey ' we call her. She's a keeper on personality alone. So if I put him with the blues, what will I get ?

Same blue rules apply

Thank you, Delisha. They are very similar. It looks like the primaries are a little different. Not just color intensity but also the blr's primary feather is split black and mahogany not just mahogany. Is that correct?
Yes.. the primary feathers are split in the colors. Black on top and red on the bottom.

I understand when people say they look simular..The correct color for BLRW is red..people are conditioned to see the buff/orange/tan /rust and any of those colors or in between so it does look like a gold laced Orp. Most of what I see are Gold laced and not Red laced. If you saw a Red lace in person you would know..it is Red..deep Red. Pictures can't do justice to the Red next to the slate blue. In person it is remarkable and stunning.

I need to take more pictures..close ups

Thank you. I totally understand about the deep red on the blrw. But what is supposed to be and the "norm" most people see, are two different things. In my case, I purchased eggs that are supposed to blrs but one egg had glw on it. Color can be disappointing on the blrws, hence my question to attempt to determine what I actually have. Having said that, I wonder how much real damage will be done mixing the two colors, excepting modifying the red, although that isn't the idea situation.
