The Wyandotte Thread

these birds are just 10 weeks old ..i am woundering at what age is it that they can be evaluated...

i noticed some have tails that stand right up and others have tails that roll under ..

some have more color around the neck while others seem to have just thin perl like colors around their necks ..

and this is cutiepie..shes my best buddy..she always runs up to me and she loves to just hang out ..she likes to set on my knee ..altho i found out the hard way not to put her on my knee while wearing shorts ..she'll peck every hair off my leg..ouch..

Just adopted my first hens. One is a very broody blue laced red Wyandotte. I am going to put a few chicks under her and am hoping she will be a good mama. Very excited. :)

Update... She was willing to take all the chicks, but the 3 one week old chicks didn't want her. The 2 four day old chicks are happily tucked away under Betty though.

I have 6 x 1 week old BLRW chicks. 2 of them are Splash. Out of the remaining 4, two have a different head pattern than the other two are slightly bigger than them as well. I am posting some pictures to see what the experts think. Is it just a difference in patterns? If yes than what kind if someone knows. OR does it signify difference in sexes?

Here the pics of one type:

As you notice, these two above have a have an almost bronze colored head with a small pattern near the crown as well as bronze around the eyes with remarkable yellow eye-lids.

Whereas these 2 above do not have any brown/bronze on the head close to the crown or around the eyes. These two are the lighter ones.

Sorry just trying to figure out if there is any method to this madness.

Looking forward to your input.
