mine are not from Welp. this is a line I put together from 3 different breeders over the last several yrs. mine are don't have lemon lacing, it's white. since your quoting my message, I take it you are talking about my birds.
as far as sexing, pull out the wing on day 1-3 and the feather sprouts of females are different lengths while the males are all one length. once they are 4 days and older, you have to wait for other signs as the feathers catchup in length.

i have some wyandottes! two silver lace and three gold lace - or so they were labeled, you'll have to tell me if i'm wrong. can't get the gold ones to stay still for a picture, but here's a great picture of one of the silvers. they are all pullets (i hope). have never had wyandottes of any kind before and they seem very shy and jumpy. is that a typical breed trait? i love mine cause they're pretty but was just curious. like i said i am not familiar with the breed. my goal this year was basically a variety of breeds to see what ones i want to get more of next time. have missed chickens so much - grew up with them and have not had them for about 10 years, but we always had rir so i don't know much about any other breeds. also, what is the correct pronunciation? the feed store guy basically called them "wine-dots" but i have strong suspicions that could be a strong accent/mumbling problem that so many people around here seem to have. well hopefully i gave you all a laugh, if nothing else.

In general Wyandotts are very calm birds, with a reputation for being good broodies for large fowl (LF) I suspect that your birds are just very young. Continue to handle them in a nice calm manner and they should get accustomed to you and being handled. They make nice eggs also.

I haven't read through all 58 pages yet, and I know my guy isn't show quality, but I love him just the same. I got him at a swap at 8 wks, and read up on the breed. He's very mellow tempered, and last year we hatched out a bunch of crosses, including a very beautiful all blue hen. I try not to have favorites but....

What do you guys think of the coloring on these two BLRW chicks, and also can you sex them yet by these photos( i know these aren't good pics for that but hey who knows?) Pretty new to the breed so any criticism of these chicks is ok in my book. Thanks
