I'm going to dig up some of my photos of when Gibbs and Pearl were younger. They sure LOOKED black laced...

Anyone else have experience one way or another?

I figured it would be easier than using up all my photo storage space on here. I would really appreciate feedback on my THREE month old BLRW. I was thinking they were four or five months but by going through my old blog posts (it's how I keep track of things!) I discovered that they were actually hatched in late February. I included current photos as well as pictures when they were young chicks.

I posted photos on the Wyandotte thread on BYC, asking if anyone else had Black laced, BLRW that turned blue. I only got one reply and she said that Black Laced do not turn blue, that I obviously have Blue Laced, BLRW.

So no I don't think you paraphrased my comment accurately.​

I always have this problem with my blue salmon and salmon faverolles. But looking at the photos you posted on your blog it looks like you had some splash laced birds that looked more blue and then the ones you believed to be black laced were truly blue. I can tell with the photos of the younger bird that the bird is blue laced not black laced. Blue and black are very hard to tell apart when the birds in question are dark blue. I still can't tell if the D'anvers I hatched are dark blue or black and they are fully feathered.

Katy is right ~ I definitely bungled that blog post. I have written to her privately to apologize and I was able to get into the dashboard on Blogger and correct the post. I actually copied and pasted Katy's reply to my original inquiry, so that it was clear that she was just offering her opinion, based on her experience. I sincerely hope that nobody thinks that I meant to be critical of Katy's reply. The fact is, I am grateful that she took the time to reply at all...
