MathAce,
Is your GLW still smaller than your SLW? Ours are 6 months and the GLW is about 2/3 the SLW size...

My GLW got nasty on the nest when I was collecting eggs, so I found her a new home. She was also nasty to some of my other birds.

My SLW is so sweet nor that even when she went broody earlier this year, she never got nasty with me. I've introduced new birds several times to the flock since then and she has never been nasty to them beyond the initial pecking order period. She was become one of my favorites. In the next few months, I hope to try some BLRW and a few more SLW.

Have you noticed any personality differences with the GLW and SLW ? ? ?

That's one of the things that I love about my BLRW. They are not aggressive at all. I hate putting new birds in with my bantam Mille Fleur and Calico Cochins because they gang up on the newcomers something awful! But my blues don't even seem to notice new additions. They are just very curious, gentle birds!

The GLW is meeker and more aloof than our SLW, who is among our favorite of the 5 we have. The GLW has calmed down significantly since she started laying.
Our SLW has always been very attentive and wanted much love. Slightly less of a cuddler than our Dark Brahma.

They have been laying for 1 month now. I'm wondering if the SLW is considering becoming broody... Got word from the chickensitter (we just got back late last night from an anniversary cruise) that she wouldn't let him get eggs yesterday afternoon. She came out when I let them out of the coop this morning but was in the nest when I came home from work 'holding' onto 2 eggs. I shooed her away to do a thorough coop cleaning and she ate but seemed intent on heading back in when I finished.

Has anyone heard of a girl going broody at 6 months old?

edited to add that the GLW is so very striking though...

Is anyone going to the Eastern NYS Poultry Association Show in Cobleskill, NY this Sunday? And will you be selling any of your birds if going? I'm looking to expand my flock, especially if I can find BLRW.
