I just got a BLR roo, Barred Roo, 4 Whites, and 2 Buffs.

Here are a few pics.

And the barred roo. You can see he is dark Het. Barred like a Barred Rock hen and he inst quite mature yet so his neck hasnt filled out and hes at that gangly looking stage.

Ok, here are some better pics of my splash roo. Now I will take opinions. He did not want his picture taken, I did my best. I want to know what you all think I need to work on with my birds and what looks good about them.

He did not want his picture taken at all and he pooped every time I took a pic.

I have not introduced any other color of Wyandotte or other breed, just bred from my best each year. I also started with breeder stock, not hatchery.

Type is harder than color.

Mine are from breeder stock but I need to do lots of reading on the breed. If it has taken you 5 years to get to the point your at, I have a lot of work to do! Your hens are the best I have seen so far and that is what I am reaching for. My idea of perfect. Type does seem to be tough, that's also going to be harder to learn. My hens are splash and I have then with a reg blr roo instead of a splash roo. Any idea what I will be hatching out of that combo?

What if I pair the splash hens with the mahogany roo, would the blue lacing get darker? I don't know much about genes yet.

I guess I was lucky. 5 years ago, I hardly knew of anyone that was breeding them. And honestly, some times I think of chucking all of them and getting silver laced instead.
