The Wyandotte Thread

Haha! Thanks for sticking up for me Rudy. Salmon Faverolles are definitely a challenge. Jerry, someday in the next few years I will join you and Rudy's partridge endeavor. I won't even need brainwashing. I bought a wheelbarrow yesterday to start cleaning out the first chicken house at my rental home. I will be working on my whites and those jersey giants I picked up at shawnee. That is about all the space I will have room for.

He's blue, my black boy is behind him. I tried to get some good photos of them both, but its soo cold out now, I almost freeze trying to get a good photo.

I had a wonderful and enjoyable conversation today with Dr. Edgar Petty. We discussed my current breeding program. Was a joy to sort of catch up with him.

Am curious if anyone has any Dun Wyandotte Bantam Hatching eggs they would let a 4Her have reasonably? We have one that would like to raise some Duns.

I am glad to hear Dr Petty is still going strong.
BTW Jim, I think I typed out the article that Dr Petty wrote about how he created the Dun Wyandotte Bantam way back on this thread somewhere. Maybe somewhere in the 40s-70s?.....I will have to search for it.

Did you get White Jersey Giants?

A wheelbarrow will only last about 6 months here, then I have to replace it....and that is for the expensive ones...those cheap ones dont last 2 months.

If it isn't illegal in Indiana, what is it in Kentucky? State subsidized?

Brainwashing...yes.....kidnapping...not so much.

I am getting 3 Partridge eggs a day for the last 2 wks...and they are all fertile, so Rebecca is excited. We should have our first batch of Partridge chicks this weekend...now all we have to do is raise about 50-75 chicks and grow them out....oh and the price of feed just went up again for the 4th time this winter.

Jerry,

I got some really nice blacks from Vaughn's. In all honesty they would have probably had champion American at Shawnee with there cock bird but all his primaries were busted. I haven't seen giants that nice ever. So I got a trio from them. I haven't ever seen any good whites.
I got the hard plastic bucket type of wheelbarrow so it should last longer in that respect. We have one at home we've been using since I was little. We just changed the frame on it this fall after about 20 years.
