I swore I would not get any more chickens, but this Wyandotte breed is sooooo pretty. Maybe I can fix another 2 in my flock!

I raise the splash blr- or did until the weasel killed my 2 roosters. now looking for a replacement and I have crossed in a white for better type.

I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm really not looking forward to potential predator deaths. We're going to have an electrified fenced yard around our coop at night but that's still not a guarantee. The bird in your profile picture is gorgeous. I just really love the Wyandottes!!!

thank you.
yes, I hate the weasels. they can get through the smallest hole, 1" was plenty big enough for them. killed the first but he was replaced and have not killed that one yet, but hens are safe for now.

I would love to add some Silver Laced Wyandottes into my flock, but I'll have to wait a bit. I have eggs stuffed in my incubators and I just don't have room. I'm planning on getting rid of 70+ birds this coming winter..to make room for the new birds. I'm trying hard to stay away from mutts..but I can't help hatching a few out everynow and again!!

I need to find some wood to knock on, but we have been lucky when it comes to minks. Maybe the 3 cats keep them away and the boys love peeing outside....LOL We do have a coon and opossom population that is out of control. We can trap 5 a week if we keep the trap set. The coons were going crazy for a while and taking hens during the day.....I don't think they have enough food out there.

I have caught 5 coon in about a month at my new place. I think the old barn is a hotel for the critters.
I finished up the pens. I'll try to post new pics soon.

In an *awwww* moment while at the feed store last week, and I don't usually buy chicks from feedstores, I saw the prettiest gold laced and silver laced Wyandottes and snatched up 3 of each to add to my flock of same age Black Copper Marans chicks.....after looking at all these photos, I'm smitten with those gorgeous markings and wonderful comments! The chicks were sexed as pullets, is this breed color linked for sexing? Either way, they are beautiful, quite a bit smaller than the Marans that are a day or two older but they hold their own very well.
