The Wyandotte Thread

I want to say this nicely, but honestly. None of these chickens is/was/ever will be show quality. They don't have correct color, size, or type.

As to the poster who asked about wyandottes because he/she just got 6 from the feed store. Well, good luck with them, but feed store wyandottes are usually nothing like pure bred ones. Temperament, attitude, personality, appearance are all usually completely different.

The birds in the above pics are likely hatchery stock.

Don't be angry, these are some of the top breeders in the United States. They're helping save a wonderful heritage breed. Otherwise all wyandottes would just be hatchery stock.

Where at in northeast Indiana are you located? I just moved up here a couple of years ago. I live in new haven.

I live between Saint Joe and Butler-----about 40 min from New Haven or so.

Well, I really did it this time! I went back to Rural King to get my refund----in chicks, not money----and they were out of chicks! What ticked me off was the way the manager acted about it when I asked if I could just get more chicks instead of getting a refund. He said, "I don't have any more chickens." But it was the way he said it, very rude and abrupt, almost like he just didn't want me to get more at 1/2 price, or at all.

I was so disgusted, I decided to teach him a lesson! So I went down the road aways to TSC, and bought 6 little black sexlink pullets. That will show HIM!!!! Yeah, I really taught him a lesson-----I'm the one whpo has to explain to hubby.

Its funny how we think of ways to get another chick. I keep justifying to my DH already and I'm new to this.
