The Wyandotte Thread

After a year of searching I finally decided to import some Silver Laced Wyandottes from across the country. The 10 birds that I was sent really made me happy. They are from Bill Gardhouse in Ontario. He has a reputation for doing very well in big shows. After getting the birds he sent me - now I know why. These birds were birds he over - wintered.

We now have Wynadottes in Silver Laced, Gold Laced and Blue Laced Red, Black Laced Reds and Splash. I'll continue trying to improve the type on the rarer colours.

If anyone cares to see the birds we bought from Bill - they are now on our farm site @ http://asspengrove.com/

Don't
you just love it - when you buy things and they exceed your expectations?

Bill comes down to the Ohio shows every year....he does have some of the best SLWs there are, we have some of his birds here at the farm too.

Don't be angry, these are some of the top breeders in the United States. They're helping save a wonderful heritage breed. Otherwise all wyandottes would just be hatchery stock.

Thank you!

I keep saying the same thing! I'm really starting to NEED a blue or black. They look so elegant. But the kids like the columbian and the buff. How can you pick?

Hatch update: None of the other 4 eggs hatched that were under our broody. We had 2 later ones that should have done something Wed, so this morning I removed them. On a good note, the 4 that hatched on time are doing great. Cute little buggers, will be a week old Sunday! The bator eggs still have 8 days to go. Never would have thought, something so "simple" as hatching eggs, would be so neat to experience. Guess it's better since they're our own birds.
