Here is a random question! How would you describe what seeing something out of focus looks like? Is the object all there but blurry with no details or definition? or are bits of it not there?
I normally say I can see it but I cannot see details.
For example i can "see" trees, but I can't see the leaves.
I can "see" your face but your eyes aren't much more than a different coloured blur 😅

That's the same as those phones messages we get left on the voice mail. I can hear it. I can't make out what they are saying.

"Hello, we're (insert incoherent gibberish here) important (more gibberish), (insert number here, presumably to call back).
