Their Names

Ha! I guess we were not very creative with our original flock. We have 2 white leghorns (both Whitey), 2 speckled sussex (both Speckles), 2 buff Chantecler (both Buffy), 2 barred rocks (both Roxy). I really can't tell them apart, so there was no need for individual names. Columbian Wyandotte is Dottie, light brahma is Brahma, and the 3 Welsummers never got names. We call them the little Welsummer (she's smallest) Shades Welsummer (she wears pinless peepers), and the Welsummer with the pretty egg. The EE with a cross-beak is Cross-beak or Beaky, and the other EE is Wilma.

Our 2nd small flock that we are adding: Ginger, Cinnamon, Olive, Pepper, and Millie (short for milagro, or miracle, since she was the only egg of 30 that hatched from our current rooster), along with the new rooster, Lucky (survived being attacked as a chick, and will now replace the current roo, who is named Rooster Roo).

Fun reading all the names. I like "Peck on the Head" ceeceeholt!

I named my girls after eggs:
Poachy
Scramble
Omelet
Sunny
Yolka
Shelly

And the rooster would be Toast!

I am kidding.

We like to name ours by their issues.
We have Bumblefoot the white leghorn (Now cured), LaGwenda our obese Muscovy, Milly the Mile Fleur only got a name after he got Mauled by our Rooster Rob. (He is doing well,with lots of care). Spike the leghorn with a tiny comb. And there is our Autralorpe named DoubleD as she has a weird puffed out chest issue.
Also we have Jellybean, water, spaghetti, Slipety slap, Jemima, pizza the Runner ducks. (kids named them.)
Fergie the Mutt. (May be a roo...Furgeson?)

The rooster is Abajah. The hens are Agnes, Annabelle, Dorcas, Claudette, Prudence, Hester, Adeline, Ophelia, Hortence, Preshea, Phoebe, Eliza, Willamina, Winifred, Celia, Geneve and Crazy Muriel.

Ours are:

Crockpot and Drumstick (elderly RSL hens)
Oregano and Barbecue (RSL pullets)
Pot Pie (GLW cockerel unfortunately, also may be ill so he may be culled this weekend if his runny nose doesn't clear up)
Skillet, Stirfry, Cordon Bleu and Rotisserie (white LF Cochin pullets)

The next two will be Dominiques and their names will be Fricassee and Marsala.

Cordon Bleu is "my" Cochin and I may change her name to General Tso, since they are a Chinese breed.

My four leghorn/australorp crosses are named Eenie, Meenie, Minie, and Moe. I had trouble telling them apart at first, so it seemed apropreate.

and then of 5 babies we haven't named yet. Although they hatched in June so they aren't really babies anymore
