I can do it either way, also.
If someone puts farm or chicken in their preferences, then that's what I make for that person. If no preference is noted, then I get creative or I've looked at blocks they have made to see what fabrics are in their stash and try to pick similiar colors or themes.
Because my home decor is more contemporary instead of country, I don't use a lot of animal prints. I have seveal friends and family that do, so I can always find a quilt project for them.
Is that a good fence-sitting answer?

The block I'm mailing to Scrambled Egg has chickens and fried eggs....could find anything with scrambled eggs....course that might not have lookd as cute.....

I didn't start yet, I always have some kind of chicken themed fabric. I'll go along with the chicken theme!

I haven't done mine yet-I don't have any chicken or egg material, so I was just going to use something I had.

Boy I really am I "scrambled"..... I was rushing around to get that block for Scrambled Egg out by the 25th....of JUNE and it is still only May!!

I'm not that much of an over-achiever.....I guess this means I'll be able to sign up for more than one block for the regular June swap now.

Babymakes5, I bet you are okay to go with what you have. Sometimes a block from a swap is what jump-starts an idea for a new quilt....an inspiration for style or color.

I've made some really cute quilted placemats from blocks from swaps too. I add a coordinating color fabric border and sandwich it, quilt it on machine and bind it. I spray it with scotchgard to keep it from getting stained. Sometimes before I bind it I will use a good clear vinyl as a cover and baste it at the edge then bind. Wipes clean....This makes a great gift for moms with little children.

O.K. I have gotten a couple emails stating that they already have their blocks done.....

So....let's just go ahead and use what ever fabric print that would go great with the chosen block for the month.
