Themometer that Sends Temp Remotely - Suggestions?

I need a high quality thermometer for the chicken coop -- one that will send temperature readings into my living room (via radio waves) 150 feet away.


I had one, but it is going on the fritz. It's not the battery, cuz my electrician brother modified mine to run on AC power when it was originally installed a year and a half ago. It runs OK for a few hours, then it quits transmitting for a while, then transmits again. On and off. On and off.


I just want to replace it with a higher quality one.


Oh, yeah, I run two remote thermometers at one time (the other one for the greenhouse), so I need a receiver that is capable of receiving two or more channels at one time.


What can you folks recommend?

I have one that is Taylor brand. I have the outdoor sensor mounted in my coop and the indoor device in my kitchen.
It's been working great, but it's about 2 years old now and is starting to give me the "---" reading when it's cold (below about 40) outside

And it's not the batteries (it takes AA and I've replaced them recently).


But I would get another one, same brand. I saw at walmart that they have their weather stations that were originally $99 marked down to $25! I think they were Taylor brand, too. I've been itching to go back and get one.

Sounds like the one at Wally World is the way to go. Sounds like yours is heating up and failing. You might try to cut operating voltage a bit, say with a series dropping resistor or different supply if possible.

I've had mine for several years now with no trouble. I live where it's pretty cold, so I put lithium batteries in my outdoor sensors (one on the garage, one inside the coop), but you probably won't need that. My coop is about 100 ft. from the house, and the garage is between us, and I can still receive readings without a problem.

A high quality, reliable solution would be a Davis Vantage Pro weather station. It supports multiple inputs, is made in the USA, and has a good wireless range. It's available online for significantly less than MSRP.

I use a Weather Channel brand digital thermometer with home base and remote - which is out in the chicken coop. So far it's been great, I'm actually ordering more remotes so I can check all the pens (rabbits, ducks and chickens) instead of just the temperature out at the feed shed.
