I have been nursing my chick back to health who has wry neck, giving the vitiman E and everything but is there some sort of therapy I can do to help her hold her head up better
Shes has had it for about a month and a half now and she is thriving
She does hold her head up now and then but not for long periods of time

Right now while I am working I have her wrapped up on my chest and tucked my shawl around my back so it keeps her snug against me This keeps forces her to not let her neck lean so far and keeps it upright
Any other exercises or massages I can do

That's not her on my shoulder, that Salem who is always very considered for her

I'm sorry that your Silkie is not improving much.

What exactly is your therapy?
How much vitamin E are you giving daily? Are you giving a bit of egg or tuna for Selenium? Have you added any b-vitamins to what you are giving her?
How old is she?
What are you feeding her?

After I am done working i will answer all those questions, I really want to get her well
Thank you for your quick reply

This is what I give her
Between 2-4 capsules of the vitiman E mixed in with the treats which you see in the pic
That has
Pumpkin seeds
Raisins
Beets
Sunflower seeds
Peas
Sweet potatoes
Broccoli
Tyme and oregano

The selenium I just scrape a little off the tablet into her treat
I am not sure how much of it I should give her, the pill is 200 mcg which is a lot I think

Nutri drench
Couple times a day about a quarter to half small dropper

Vitimans in their water

I just massage her neck I don't know what else I could do

She is little over 2 months, her wry neck didn't start until she was a couple weeks old

Thank you

Okay, I think that you are giving way too many vitamins. Either use the NutriDrench (which also has plenty of seleium,) or give the chick vitamins in the water. Then give only one 400 IU pearl of E, and the selenium tablet is probaly not necessary. You can overdose selenium easily. There is plenty in the NutriDrench or you can give a small amount of egg, tuna, or sunflower seed. Stop all the extra food and give her chick grower feed. Sometimes adding a little water to it can make it more enticing. Wry neck is just a symptom, and it depends on the cause as to if it will get better. It can be a result of a head or neck injury, a vitamin deficiency, or some diseases, such as Mareks.

Thank you this was very helpful :hugs

When I had a chick who had wry neck, I made a neck brace out of memory foam and gauze tape. It worked to keep her head up and keep her comfortable.

I have been wondering about that, I was ready to put a toilet paper roll around her neck, padded of course
I am worried she will hold her neck like that so long she eventually wont be able to hold it up normal again

A section of sponge or a section of water pipe insulation might be fashioned into a collar.

How long does it typically take for vitamin e deficiency to resolve once proper feed and supplements are provided?

I, too, have a 9 week old pullet with it (long story). Just gave Rooster Booster orally and dosed the water, wondering if this always lingers so long?
