So sorry to hear about the loss Steve. Everyone on here knows (or will know) what it is like to loose birds - whether we forget to close a door or don't make the coop secure enough or..... whatever the case, the predators are quick to take advantage of that one mistake. And no matter how many times we tell ourselves or have others tell us "They are just chickens", it doesn't matter - you get attached, they aren't "just chickens" - they are family, and that makes the loss even harder. So give your remaining hen a hug and greive with her. And good luck with the young ones you are looking at today.
