Two pairs, and an Evening Grosbeak to boot. And it's not a big tree.

Looks like no cherries this year, but it's a fair trade. (I'm assuming most chicken fanciers are bird fanciers by default.)

Yep! You definitely won't have any cherries this year. As long as you're content with that, then hey, congrats on your new bird friends!

Oh I just LOVE watching birds....I have traveled from Alaska, to the East coast....bird watching. I too have a pair of Baltimore Oreoles in my yard. I just can't get enough of thier song...soo pretty.

Do you leave out a dish of grape jelly? We have two pairs who bring their babies to the dish too.

In year's past, we only did oranges, which were expensive, and we never saw the babies.

We have some cardinals, mourning doves, finches and sparrows around. One of the sparrows flew into the house yesterday when i left the porch(were their food is stored)and the door open. I spend thirty minutes chasing it in the basement.

That's awesome! I haven't seen an oriole since I lived in baltimore, 17 years ago. And sightings were pretty rare back then. They are a gorgeous bird.

I tried hanging orange slices on a nail, but they ignored them. I'll give the jelly a try - at least I'll have ants to look at.

Oblio, we didn't think the grape jelly would work, but boy did it ever. We're on our third giant jar this season already. We have it on the deck railing.

When it rains, the hummingbirds suck up the sweetened water around the jelly lump.
