They are beautiful. The green that some of these Roos have is amazing. Glad they made it safe. What a long trip. No wonder they're crowing.

I am not really up on that breed , but they sure look like quality birds to me, very nice.

Nope. They're Partridge Rocks.

In case you're interested, a Partridge Rock is a coloration of a Plymouth Rock, which is a large, docile, dual-purpose farm chicken. PRs are good layers and the hens tend to dominate.

Partridge is a relatively rare coloration. Barred and White Rocks are much more common. But, I'm partial to the Partridge Rock myself. The Partridge coloration reminds me of a Barnvelder or Welsummer, but Plymouth Rocks are much larger. The roos have dark brown feathers that reflect greens and reds. They are really beautiful up close.

They're supposedly an American breed, developed in the 19th century, but I read somewhere that someone has the opinion that the first ones were in England.

Thank you krturpie for posting those pics. Tell your DD hi for me and that the boys are fine. They are crowing less as it is getting dark and I think that is probably a sign that they are calming down? They are getting a lot of attention and we are so happy to have them.

sure thing i will let you know when they are ready. I am thinking late spring. The hens are almost 4 mths. old so I will let you know when they start laying. They will be with the partridge hens only so I can make sure that all the eggs are from them.

Although I was curious what a buffxpartridge would make???

I was thinking about it and maybe you should do a post about the shipping policy that the USPS has. I am sure that a lot of people on here would like to know that before they decide to ship birds. I think you would do better at posting it than me as you spoke with the P.O. in more detail than I did. I know I will think twice before having a bird shipped again and I am sure you feel the same. It is scary to think what could have happened had they been shipped to a post office that didn't accept live animals.



oh and I wanted to let you know that there was a note on the box that someone in Florida did give them water. Bless that person for caring enough to do that
