What a good roo Bucky is! He looks and sounds like he is doing just fine. Good for him. He knows how to take care of his girls. I'm sure you are very proud of him. I'm sure he is proud of himself and even more self-assured that he can take care of himself and his flock (just in case you weren't seeing what was going on). Wasn't there another post where the roosters were fenced away from each other and they still got into a bloody battle?

Aww, but one good roo with his flock of ladies can be an awesome thing to watch. (Kat says as she has just come in from watching hers

Most people in these parts like to be woken up by an actual alarm clock...

Ba. My neighbors said that too, until I got the roo. Now they find him just the cutest thing... Er well... 3/4 of the neighbors anyway.

If you lived near central city, you would have a lot more problems...I dont have any free-ranging chickens from the neighbours running around here tho

...and there is the small matter of a bylaw restricting my ownership

- - only up to six hens and NO roosters unless you have a permit from so and so, etc.

I think this extra-aggressiveness has to do with the time of year. My poor king-roo Chanticleer was lowered from his position today because the younger roosters were feeling extra violent. All my roosters are acting far more aggressive than usual, which is strange. Think it's the time of year?

Not sure, but it might make sense...predators are filling up for winter (hawks all over around here, and my barn cats are FAT!). I imagine that might make prey animals and their guardians (ie roosters) edgy.

BTW - Nice job Bucky! My girls are asking for a Bucky for Christmas!

I am not looking for problems. They were already fighting before I got out there and I went inside and posted on BYC to get ideas. He has every right to free range his roo. Not on my property but he has every right and we have talked about his roo on my property and he apologizes. I did not put Bucky in any situation so please do not say that to me. Bucky will not suffer because he has a great owner to take care of him. You may not think that but I do and you can ask anybody on hear.

Whats done is done. Everything has been worked out and I think this has run it's course. I am going to get it locked. Thanks for participating in this thread.
