I saw that documentary and heard the unedited tape.
Hadn't he been staying there seasonly for like 10 years or something?
I remember he thought he was special and they had excepted him. I remember right off he was getting too close to them and I thought no way this isn't gonna go badly.

I believe he was doing it for 13+yrs or so if I’m not correct. He claimed to have depression, alcohol and meth addiction...Supposedly AK and being around bears was his escape from himself? I dunno

Either way, he kept breaking laws and camping in areas where he had no consent or permission to do so, specifically around “busy” bear season.
