Today I got my chickens some multipurpose sand and turns out there’s no chicken grit which I’ve been searching for. I put the sand in the run on top of some rocks. We also gave them crushed rocks (gravel) and they didn’t eat it?

My chickens won't eat grit either. but they do eat small rocks off the ground when they are free ranging.

Sand is grit. How large is the gravel they're not eating?
Here’s the sand and grit. The grit in the sad is very small and there’s no grit inside

Sand is not grit. It is too small and smooth to serve as grit in the gizzard. The small stone particles in the right picture will serve as grit. They will eat it when they need it.
