I can line the two sides under the coop with straw outside the run wire and plastic and do the south side with plastic right up to the bottom of the coop and then it should be pretty well sheltered. Thanks!
 
This is a very late replay, and you may not even be on here any more, but I just wanted to say I love mine! It comes on when temp nears freezing (at 35), then it stays on until it gets warm (45). If temps stay down below 45, it says on. But it shouldn't make your coop too warm. I have found it to be affordable, and very reliable. I put have a red heat lamp and a ceramic one both with metal guards on them for my small coop of 5 girls and it's perfect. I ordered another one just in case this one quits one day!
