First hatch! Tomorrow is "hatch day" Friday the 11th. I locked down on Tuesday the 8th. Wednesday a chick pipped and hatched Wednesday night. 4 more hatched today. Lots of comotion going on in the kitchen tonight! I wasn't thinking about laying the thermometer down! I had it standing up and it's gotten knocked down face down :((( I've read some people will go into the bator to work magic. I don't plan on helping any hatch. I don't know if I should wait until tomorrow and fix the thermometer, pull out dry chicks and add water if needed OR fix it tonight and add water if needed... Wednesday night chick is completely dry but the others are not. Two of them hatched 3 hours ago... I have a still air 1602n hovabator. It's been doing really well as far as keeping the temp and humidity good during the lock down. So I don't feel too pressured to let it go for the night BUT there are still a lot of eggs pipped and I don't want to shrink wrap them if I can help it. Everything has been good so far but now I'm on the fence.

Also these hatchlings are crazy. Rolling pipped eggs all over the place- I'm assuming that's ok!? Thanks in advance

I ended up opening the corner it was in. Little dry chick was the only one in that area. I'm glad I did! It was chilly last night and I have learned to go with my gut feeling so I did! 11 chickies this morning and more coming into the world!! Now the little guys like to get up on the therm combo but at least I can see it at times.

Today is hatch day. Tonight will be Day 3 for the first little chick so I'm betting I scoop some out before they are all done. Fingers crossed!

I'm ready to call it on these last 5 unhatched eggs. 21 eggs total. 2 were rotten/infertile. 13 healthy happy chicks. 1 piped and yolk was unabsorbed. These last five, I candled and very dark, I'm assuming fully formed. Last night I did the float test. Out of 5, 2 floated horizontal and 3 floated about 15% above water. No movement or cheeping from these 5. I've got a 1602n still air bator. Sometime during the first 18 days (I don't remember what day) I had a temp spike to 104*. 9 chickies hatched on Thursday night and none since. Humidity spiked to high 80%s during this and I have unplugged the ports to try to get humidity down some. Even tried the stove fan to pull humidity out. I feel certain these last 5 are fully formed but dead. Looking for advice. Today is day 23.
