Can anybody recommend a good, accurate, and reliable digital thermometer/hygrometer?

I found out my alcohol one that came with the hovabator was reading 2 degrees hot (i.e. I was incubating at 101.5 in my still air incubator on my thermometer, and came to find out actual temp was 99.5 for the whole incubation, so my hatch was late and poor). I ordered a digital thermometer/hygrometer from eBay made by incubatorwarehouse.com, and it worked beautifully for two days and then suddenly started reading 10 degrees cool, plus the humidity went up about 15 points higher than actual humidity, so it is completely jacked up now.

I am completely frustrated. I am willing to spend more money if I can get something that is accurate and reliable. Does anybody have one they recommend?

sorry i dont know what to tell ya cept maybe check the battery?? hopefully this will bump ya tho and someone will have a good answer.

Well, I have always had good luck with cheap Accurite thermometers from WalMart. They seem pretty accurate, and they last a long time. Personally, I have an old fashioned mercury thermometer AND an Accurite digital thermometer/hygrometer in my incubator--that way if one breaks or has a wrong reading, there's always the other one. I check to make sure they both read the same. If they ever don't, I guess I'll have to go get a third thermometer to break the tie, lol!

Anyway, you don't always have to spend more to get better quality. The Accurite brand has a good reputation, and it's not expensive (under $10). I actually made a special trip to WalMart to buy one this time (we used to have one in our snake habitat, but didn't have one on hand any more), even though I usually eschew WalMart for the most part.

Good luck with your hatch. Equipment failure is very frustrating!

Ok, I think I might be making a trip to WalMart today too! Thanks, I will give that a try

i recently bought the egg-o-meter from incubator wharehouse on ebay. just under 20 bucks shipped. check it out. i am currently incubating some light brahmas and recording the temps daily with my old reliable walmart temp/hydro temp/ meter. still air old reliable is 101.5 and the egg o meter witch measures temp from inside the egg is 98 degress. temp on top of eggs is 101.5 and internal reading is 98. hope this helps. check out ebay. as you know it never hurts to have two thermomters.
