Thermostat in the coop

Go to ACE and get a Line Voltage Thermostat...used for electric baseboard heaters, et al. They are designed for higher loads than you are planning on and will be quite safe. You only need to wire up one set of contacts for 120vac and if your coop is outside don't forget to plug into a GFIC outlet, usually ouside or in the garage on a house built after the 70's.

After researching this a couple of months ago, I bought a Line Voltage Thermostat on Ebay for $17 (like Dan said). It has a digital display, etc. I was only going to run a 100w red glass light bulb with it.

Never got around to putting it in the coop.

Went to home depot for my thermocube about $7.Wanted to control my oil filled heater, but because the heater has its own thermostat, can't get the cube to work,so letting the heater do its thing.keep it on low.Keeps the coop about 50f
