It is because of the kind of heatlamp you use. They are still getting enough sleep just not all at night. That is why I love the ecoglow brooders so much. They emit no light so at night it is dark and they sleep. Yours will start sleeping through the night once they are feathered enough for you to take away the heatlamp.

Thanks for the heads up :). They don't seem stressed so the lamp should be fine for now!

I put a shoebox of multipurpose sand in their brooder since I noticed them rolling around in the pine shaving bedding. I don't want them to roll around in poop or kick it into their food.

so far it... seems fine that they're eating the sand instead of bathing in it. hopefully they figure out what I want them to do!
