These are RIR's, right?

How do you get true heritage RIRs? (From where - not a hatchery?)

You get real Rhode Island Reds (Heritage Type R.I. Reds) from a breeder.

Here is a link to a thread on R.I. Reds and there are some Heritage Type R.I. Reds posted in there. I also did a post (post 3) on the history of the R.I. Red with some pictures.

Pretty much you have to get them from a breeder. Sandhill Preservation Center claims to have true Heritage RIRs, but...I dunno.

To me Sandhill Preservation Center is just a step up from a hatchery and a fancy name....

True, you cant have as many breeds as they do and still be able to have the time, money and room to hatch a bunch and cull down to the best quality birds like it takes to have good Breeder quality Heritage RIRs or any breed really. They may have gotten their orginal stock from breeders, but by now, they would have to be down closer to normal hatchery stock. There are Breeders in the thread that Chris posted and there are some in the CROHIO RIR forum. PM me if you want the link for that.

That's what I suspected. Thanks.
