These chicks get the cutest ever award!

That's actually been something I've been watching for my chicks. Herea my current batch, 4 weeks old. First is a cockerel, second is a pullet.

The cockerel has a wider comb with a row of three, and the pullets is slimmer with a row of one.

I would wait to be positive on genders when your chicks are a little bit older, when you can see more redding or more rows. I do have 2 pullets with slightly wider combs then the other girls, so that could be the case with yours.

Yes, they are Lavender (not quite pure) Ameraucanas.

Oh really? Then I think is safe to say that both your are pullets.

They are bantam ameraucanas! Here’s a pic of my lavender Ameraucanas I love them so much! I’m a huge sucker for an ameraucana. Please excuse the droppings, I need to scrub my coop!

Yours look blue, not lavender/self blue. In my previous post I said mine were lavender, but out of the ones I posted the male is blue and the female is lavender.

I'm a huge sucker for blue birds. :p

Me too!! The first pic is my bantam Ameraucana. She calls them lavender ameraucanas but then says self-blue. The big girls I got from crackle hatchery (love that hatchery) this is how they describe them

“Another term for the color lavender is self blue. The blue (Bl) color variety looks similar to lavender. But it does not breed true. The lavender gene (LAV) does breed true. A lavender chicken bred to a lavender chicken will produce only lavender chicks. However, the lavender variety has an associated feather quality issue. Often it causes frayed or tattered tails, especially on males”

I really do hope I got a male by mistake! Haha

Now my lavender orphington…..she looks lavender! Lol

I’m totally in love with my new flock!
