So my polish decided to go the way of the brood and hatched seven- I repeat SEVEN eggs on her first brood. I have several roosters that make possible dad including two naked necks. So what do I find when they hatch? All are NN except one. Now, not all of the eggs hatched are the polish. Out of her five in the group only three hatched so four of them are someone else’s. The thing is that it looks like all except the non NN one have little beard tufts. My polish is non bearded and I didn’t think naked necks had that variant. I don’t have any bearded hens in my flock at all so...I’m confused. Is this actually a beard tuft or just awkward baby fluff? Fun little observation I found was that the non naked neck who I can almost guarentee is from my barred rock since it has the same exact pattern is that it has five toes which meeaaans one of my silkie roos sired it. Are there any chances it could be a soft fluffy baby like a silkie or will it most likely be hard feathered?
Also, what do you think the others are mixed with? It’s kind of obvious which ones are the polish. The ones who frequent that nest are the polish, barred rock, and broiler. Those are the most common but I also have an isa brown, barnavelder, sapphire gem, austrolorp, and a big barnyard mix all at laying age.
