So my polish decided to go the way of the brood and hatched seven- I repeat SEVEN eggs on her first brood. I have several roosters that make possible dad including two naked necks. So what do I find when they hatch? All are NN except one. Now, not all of the eggs hatched are the polish. Out of her five in the group only three hatched so four of them are someone else’s. The thing is that it looks like all except the non NN one have little beard tufts. My polish is non bearded and I didn’t think naked necks had that variant. I don’t have any bearded hens in my flock at all so...I’m confused. Is this actually a beard tuft or just awkward baby fluff? Fun little observation I found was that the non naked neck who I can almost guarentee is from my barred rock since it has the same exact pattern is that it has five toes which meeaaans one of my silkie roos sired it. Are there any chances it could be a soft fluffy baby like a silkie or will it most likely be hard feathered?

Also, what do you think the others are mixed with? It’s kind of obvious which ones are the polish. The ones who frequent that nest are the polish, barred rock, and broiler. Those are the most common but I also have an isa brown, barnavelder, sapphire gem, austrolorp, and a big barnyard mix all at laying age.

That's just what baby naked necks look like. Because there is no fluff on the neck, the fluff on the face looks even more pronounced. My broody (a bantam D'uccle x Polish) hatched 14 :p And all were Naked Necks

Are any of your males barred? If not then any with head spots (first 2, and I think #5) are cockerels. The silkie cross will have hard feathers.

I don’t have any barreds except for the hen. The two NNs are slightly different, one being all black and the other having gold accents and a grey head. But it’s weird because all the barred rock chicks I’ve had with those markings have been female.

Any non-white, non-barred male over a barred female is a sex linked cross. Cockerels will have a head spot and be barred, pullets will have no head spot and be black.

Shoooot no I have so many roosters that I have to get rid of already XD
