THEY ARE HATCHING!!!!!!!!

Wow, did she pull it out from under her to help...is that common with ducks?

I’ve seen call ducks do it, never saw it in my Swedish.
But I had an OEGB hen that I saw help a hatchling too.

If only broody ducks could weigh in on when we should assist, too...;)

The last clutch I let a Muscovy hatch had a couple of ducklings that had externally pipped but died before making it out. I think it was the large number of eggs in the nest (more than a dozen), and possibly the very hot and humid weather; with prior hatches, only duds or late quitters (non-pipping) had failed to hatch under broodies, so I suspect that the ducks may have assisted hatchlings if/when they deemed necessary. Maybe it also depends on the individual duck..?

Yes she helped it hatch, I was quite surprised, and I got it on video!!! Most amazing thing ever!!! By the time I went to bed 10 of them had hatched, 8 more to go which I'm sure they are probably out by now. I'll be going out there after my first cup of coffee. Those are actually ducking from all my hens. They all co-host. When all the rest of the ducks came in last night they had know idea what there were ducklings. You could actually tell the excitement they had! Really spectacular..:love
