My chicks from Ideal came today, too. I had ordered 35 Cornish X. The PO called me this morning a little after 7 and told me my chicks were here and to just come to the back door and knock. After I got back Ideal called. There was a mistake on my email address and they wanted to be sure I knew the chicks had been shipped yesterday. I told them they were already here. They are all active, hungry and thirsty. All of them are yellow except for one. He's pure white. Now I have to hurry and get a place fixed up for them. The place I usually raise meat chickens is full of dual purpose pullets and I can't move them until their coop is finished. Right now I have the chicks in a stock tank fitted out as a temporary brooder. They are fine for now but they are going to outgrow that real fast. I do have another place to put them but it needs cleaning. I am shoveling as fast as I can. I had no business ordering these chicks right now but Ideal had a good special on the Cornish X and I couldn't resist. If it hadn't been for BYC I never would have known about the special and I wouldn't be spending the day shoveling straw and manure. Darn BYC!!
