LOL - the first time I saw my Muscovy eat one, it freaked me out!!! Now the Muscoview hang close to the dog when she has a bone or other food. When she gets up, they go and eat whatever she had left. Strange, strange birds. But I love 'emYup! My Muscovy girls will go for mice. They once even stole a mouse from my cat! It takes a lot of maneuvering and crushing of bones with their bills and lots of drinking of water, but they eventually get them down!
I had a chicken do that (one of our black sex links). I'd never seen it before and evidently they've been known to toss around snakes for fun as well. Fortunately rattlesnakes are uncommon where I live. I thought the chicken was going to have issues until my mom said nonchalantly "was it Rhoda??". Evidently for her it wasn't the first time.my duck just swallowed one whole
Wow, my girls must be peaceful!- I've only seen one mouse one time in my pen, they just watched him running about, seemed amused by the tiny thing. The neighbours cat was also amused and guards my pen somedays.Has anyone else experienced their ducks dispatching a mouse? This morning I found some mouse fur and a tail laying on top of their chips, where an hour earlier there was nothing. I think my two pekins ate it?!
How do they manage to digest the skull and bones?? Do they just??my duck just swallowed one whole
I.... note to self-- never mess with a chicken.they've been known to toss around snakes for fun as well.
