They don't like BOSS

I never tried seeds with shells on. I purchased seeds that were unshelled and they loved it.

I mix BOSS in with the scratch grains and then throw them some every morning when I let them out of the coop. At first they didn't like the BOSS and would just pick through it and eat thier scratch but after a few days or so they started eating the BOSS and now they like it just as much as the rest. I started giving it to them due to a feather eater/picker split lav orp hen I had and it cured her of it after about a month.

Do you guys give the BOSS with or without the hulls on?

My flocks have always loved BOSS and now I mix it into their whole grain feed mix. I also keep some just to throw into the bedding so they will turn it for me....they do a much better job than I ever could.

I don't buy hulled seed. So far as I can tell, it is their most favorite whole grain with wheat coming in a strong second.

My ladies are wierd. Some days they love it, some days they ignore it. The more I offer it though the more they seem to like it. Just give them time.

My chicken flock and guinea flock seem to really like BOSS. They have never turned it down.

Mine did not like it at first either, but I mixed it in with thier treats and now they love the stuff... I usually put a bit in thier feeder as well mixed with thier pellets.

My younger chickens don't like it. They come running when I throw it out and just stand there and watch the older ones in disbelief as if to say, "this is a treat - you've got to be kidding me!" Once they are grown, they are out there fighting for their share beside the older ones.
