They don't like to free range! What's up with that?

Jenn's_ chicks :

One thing more. I also put my outside cat in my dog kennel so she won't help herself to my cute chicks.

OMG I can only imagine...how ticked your cat must be lol! I popped mine into a bunny cage...she was chasing my large chickens! DAng cat!

Our cat sits in there and stares at me. With her evil laser eyes. Then the puppy sits in front of the kennel and thinks she is going to come out a d play. She doesn't seem to really care. But I do not trust her at all.

Ours liked going out, but they didn't go far and they stuck together. They always tried to be near something they could hide under - the rain barrels, some cinder blocks with a pallet on top, or even our legs as we sat out in the yard babysitting them. If ANYTHING fell from overhead (leaf, twig, etc.) or if there was a shadow of a bird they were under something in a flash. They're a lot more adventurous now that they're bigger, but they still keep an eye to the sky and prefer to come back to the covered run or wedge themselves out of sight under our rain barrels to rest.
