Just about the time I expected my babies to start laying, at the end of the summer, they all stopped laying. Nothing - Nada- no eggs at all from 10 hens all well over 24 weeks. It went on like that till Thanksgiving, then started getting 1 medium egg every 2 or 3 days. Well, for the last week, I've been getting a brown egg almost every day and a green egg every other day or so. Not sure if it is the older hens starting up again, or the younger ones laying for the first time, but am happy to be finding eggs again. My flock is down to 7 hens now, and I'm just going to see how they produce for us. May add 3 hens next year, and am thinking about red sex-links cause I already have 3 Ameracuna's for green eggs and 1 Minorca for a white egg and a Cochin & Barred Rock & Rhode Island Red for brown eggs. Maybe a brown leghorn for a white egg to help out the Minorca. Thank you Lord, for laying chickens. My BEST Christmas present.

I went practically 2-3 months with only 2-3 eggs per day from 14 hens. They were all molting. Just in the past 2 weeks have I been getting 10-14 eggs per day. My pullets have finally started laying, too.

Just be patient, they will start up again.

Good luck!

Angie
