I'm not sure if it means we breed them hardy or stupid in Scotland. I'll go with hardy for now.

Here in the USA Midwest, my chickens also won't come in when it's raining----I vote for stupid in my case.

Beauty fades, dumb is forever? Those are the rescued ex battery hens? Even wet, they look so much better!

Thorne isn't looking his usual Southern gentlemanly self at all!

I've seen my roo with icicles on his tail after they were out playing in an ice storm. Stupid or just don't care.

I also have several chickens who love to play in the rain. I even have a couple who prefer to stay dry. Imagine that:) My newest odd ball black aust. rooster likes to sleep in his watter container...standing in the water all night long. My mother-in-law thinks he is smart and is just trying to cool off during the hot nights. I tend to think that he is just wierd...

Mine HATE rain. Oh how they HATE rain. My run is half covered with a solid roof, but the half that is open (covered with wire) lies between the coop and the covered half of the run.

They look miserable. They ruffle and shake. They DASH from cover to coop, and from coop to cover. They don't stay in the coop (I don't know why - there's food in there, and they can't possibly be thirsty all the time) and won't stay under the other cover either, but dash back and forth all the time when it rains.

LOL! Cute picture! Mine LOVE the rain, they come fluffing their feathers and run out in the middle of the yard during the rain storm...

thanks for sharing!
