THEY HAVE SHIPPED!

What's a good place to get the duck eggs or baby ducklings online in small quantities? I only want one or two, I suppose I could put only two eggs in the incubator, but both might not hatch. Anyone have any input on the friendliest duck breeds? Thanks :)

I've looked at Meyer? I think the minimum was only 2. I'm 98% sure. lol
No, actually Purely Poultry's minimum is 2. Metzersfarm's minimum is only 2 too.

Any idea on how much they charge in shipping? I know even if you order Meyer's minimum of three the shipping was like 44.99. I'm hoping this upcoming spring some feed store near me will get some in and I can just pick one or two up with like two more chicks or something. I wouldn't mind ordering 3 but the shipping is outrageous. It would cost more for 3 ducks than it did for my 6 chicks. Ideal poultry shipping isn't bad but you have to order at least 25 dollars worth which would be 5 ducks. Maybe I will just find someone close to me that wants a couple more and split an order of 5 with them. Let me know what you guys find as far as shipping and everything.

By the way whomever suggested putting a piece of plywood in the brooder with chicks to set the water and feeder on, the idea works amazingly and the water stays cleaner than if they are sitting on pieces of 2x4. I am going to stick with this idea in the brooder from now on. Sorry in advance for not remembering who suggested it. Between my job, 3 year old, and husband my memory is not the greatest.

Backyardflock, I think any duck breed can be friendly as long as you handle them like you do chicks. I myself was looking into the welsh harlequin and blue swedish. I heard both those breeds are calm and have no flight tendencies. If you know any breeds that are fairly quiet let me know! Besides the muscovy that is.

So glad I could help with the plywood!!! I happy it worked so well!

Welsh Harlequin duck breed I think are friendly, any other people hear of this breed being friendly? They seem to be light and lay a good amount of eggs, and apparently they are calm. What has everyone heard about this breed? Thanks :)

I've heard the same things about them backyardflock. I think they would be a good choice for ducks. The only other one I hear everyone suggest is the Pekin but I personally don't care for those ones, they are too plain looking.

Yeah I want a quietish breed myself. Plus I'm hoping if I only get one and a chick to go with it then it will imprint on the chick and maybe not be as noisy. Who knows.
