My Coop
My Coop
I feel like we reached another milestone in them growing up. My 5 10.5 week old EE’s have been roosting the past 2 nights.
I had thought about roost training them but then I decided to just let them figure it out on their own when they were ready, and I guess they did.
Coincidently we had added 2 new window vents to their coop this past weekend. I don’t know if that had anything to do with it but I feel maybe it did, perhaps they find it more comfortable and cool up there now.
So if your chicks aren’t roosting maybe re examine elements like that, maybe it’s not just because they don’t want to or aren’t ready!

Me and my hubby are discussing new coop plans. I just want like an 8x10 shed style. With 4ft door. And some windows and ventilation. I hang my roost bar like a swing. So I like the open plans. I do like your roost area though! Probably easy to clean too

Could very well be.
Where were they sleeping before?

It’s very easy to clean, although I do have to crawl in to reach the far side. We already started planning the next coop (while we were building this one!!) I want the same as you, shed style. We are going to go 12x16, that’s the biggest we can go without a building permit. I want 12x6 for my shed part and the rest coop. I already have the plans drawn up and everything. This was a good starter coop, but a shed one is definitely the way to go. Post pics when you’re done!

Mine have been roosting since week 4! But congrats! It really is another milestone in their lives!
